HEP CAT CLUB DJS
Ben Klock is a techno producer and Dj who thrives most when using stripped-down tracks shaded with darker hues, Berlin's Ben Klock debuted in 1998 as Ben E. Clock with a 12" on his own short-lived Clockworks label. His modest beginning continued with a 2000 12" on WMF, but in 2003 he released a pair of singles -- "Glow" and "Tag der Arbeit" - on Ellen Allien's BPitch Control. That allegiance significantly increased his exposure.
In his sets Ben Klock is aims at create an atmosphere that is based on a deep sound, that accumulates over long phases into something euphoric in order to explode at the end in brief: euphoria with a rough bass.
After a pair of releases on BPitch sublabel Memo, Klock and Marcel Dettmann collaborated on the 2006 maiden release for Ostgut, the label branch of Berlin's Berghain nightclub. Successive Ostgut singles, especially February 2007's "Czeslawa"/"Warszawa," ramped up the anticipation for the first Klock full-length EP One, the third production album released on Ostgut (following almost universally praised releases from Shed and Prosumer + Murat Tepeli) in March 2009.
Vertical Rhythm Joint
The rhythm is easy. The floor is jumping. The glamour is high. Your daddy's rich. Your mamma's good looking. Come on by. Blow your wig at the decadent romance of the jazz age. Experience a zoot suit riot with music so hot you can really get down. Show off your old skool dance moves. Allow the infectious energy and oscillating rhythms to cut your rug. Marvel at flashmob performances, evoking hot Harlem nights. Hep Cats and Jive Chicks hang at a killer diller joint featuring music, dance, glamour and mischief. It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.
Daily Mail -- "one of the most fun nights out I've had in ages.... After years of formulaic and tacky night clubbing, there's really no better way to party...Craziness and beauty... The bar transformed… as the young, gorgeous and glamorous, clad in vintage gear, flooded the dance floor...The easy appeal of physical energy, old world glamour and the heady romance of the dance floor!"
The Sunday Independent – “girls dressed up like glamorous pre-war pin-ups ..men looked fabulous in sharp suits and spats….This is so hot…watching a tall, sexy man jitterbug across the dance floor, spinning his flexible partner with abandon. Outside on the cobblestones we danced our own version of swing … it’s about being able to just let yourself go.”
Participants describe it "Like a Roller Coaster ride - exhilarating, exciting, entertaining, unique, electric, constantly surprising, original and organic."
