JOHN DALY

John Daly has quickly proven to be one of the most promising new producers to emerge. The young Irishman’s productions are as deep and elemental as they are anachronistic, recalling a simpler era of electronic music. His stylistic ties to electronic music’s roots are what set him apart from his deep-house contemporaries, as his tunes bear the warm and full-bodied mark of analog synths VSTs still struggle to properly emulate. In 2008 year he’s released a double LP on Plak rounding up his singles for the label and the debut single for International Records Recordings, Areal’s new sub-label. After 3 EPs on the label, he released his first full length album on Wave in April 2009. John has been DJing and playing live music for 13 years around Europe, with recent appearances at Panorama Bar in Berlin, Zukunft in Sugar Factory in Amsterdam (at ADE 08 and will play again in 09), Tarabua in Georgia, Air in Tokyo.

HUNTER GATHERER

www.myspace.com/huntergathererforever

Hunter Gatherer is an electronic artist who makes dark/atmospheric music that feels like an ice-storm panic attack, a little unsettling and uncanny. Though biographical details are hazy what we do know is that he started making music in 2005 and just releasd is debut album Left for Dead’ this year to rave reviews. His forthcoming album title track- I Dreamed I Was a Footstep In The Trail of a Murderer’ is where Kid A Kraftwerk beats mix with lysergic paranoia.

Live, Hunter-Gatherer aims to “create an audiovisual nightmare”, you will more than likely find him wearing a robe and conjuring melancholy but never focus-less from his laptop.

THE CAST OF CHEERS

www.myspace.com/thecastofcheers

The Cast of Cheers is a richter-friendly post-punk band that has no affiliation with the cast of the hit 80’s sitcom but is one of the most promising new acts on the Dublin scene. Thanks to labels like The Richter Collective and the autonomous sphere of bands around the country making brilliant and mostly loud guitar music again and we can now add Dublin’s brilliantly-titled The Cast of Cheers to that list.

They’ve released their debut album Chariot for free via BANDCAMP with a physical release coming in April. The album is a fully-formed 33-minute blast of post-punk, looping post-rock, tightly-wound songs with echoes of touchstones like Battles, Foals and Death From Above 1979. Though this sound didn’t come from nowhere some of the band members were previously involved in the band Abam helping make Chariot a breath of fresh air for the Dublin scene.
