go on the staten island ferry just before dusk, then get it back when it's dark. you get the best view of manhattan and it's free!

Off the top of my head Kaz I would say Adidas Originals store for shopping.....loads of places around the Prince St area in Soho/Greenwich in general.
For eats you have try 'Les Halles'....French bistro style food, seriously good. Think you said you were staying mid-town so theres one down that end of Park Avenue, around 34th st but I think there is one or two more of them around the place. Good prices too. Theres a mexican place called La Cucina near Lafayette St and a place called BLT burger in Greenwich that are well worth checking out.
Seconded on the Staten Island ferry for deadly skyline photos, did it during the day but the night tip is a good one, might do that meself this time.

Yeah Les Halles is lovely, good tip Jean! Also I have a note somewhere of some place that is supposed to do the best burger in the world, some hotel I think, will look up and post again

Oh yeah thats the burger place that in the Parker Meridien hotel I think.....Heston Blumenthal did a feature on it on his show. We were gonna go there but we were told by a few people that it used to be really good but its gone to the dogs a bit? That BLT burger place was the bizz though.
