Was gonna say the Tim Lawrence book, it is THE definitive book on the American dance music scene in the 70s.
Really wanna get his book about Arthur Russell aswell
Am reading 'Music, the Brain, and Ecstasy: How Music Captures Our Imagination' by Robert Jourdain for the past while. Its pretty intense but very interesting and suitable reading for me at the moment.

Now Wax Poetics started to issue Japanese version seasonally, all amazing & fascinating articles, loving it.
"Electroshock" by Laurent Garnier is amazing book.
Its his autobiography, talking about born of - rave / second summer of love music scene, and how is evolved, from insiders view.
Not only good record/documentary of the heyday, but also a lot of passion into it.
not sure if its published in English though (for sure its in French and Japanese)
