Went to see this earlier today, the first 3d film I've seen in the cinema. Some of it was hugely impressive to look at -certainly some of the best cgi I've seen - but good lord was the film itself abysmal. Clunky, predictable, far too long and at times unintentionally hilarious. Talk about hype for very very little (bar the cgi/3d, the thrill of which wore off after a while and was little more than an irritating distraction at times) Anyone else seen it?

Heading to see it at the weekend, I've heard mixed reports alright. Some people saying its amazing, others saying pretty much what you said.
i enjoyed it but knew it wouldn't live up to the hype even in the slightest & the dialog is horrible
thought it was terrible, bad acting, terrible cliched characters, shit story, the night i went the audience clapped! myself and the person i went with were in disbelief
Thought it was great. Even went to see it a second time. It is what it is.
If you are going expecting Oscar award winning dialogue you'd be best avoiding it.
It's probably the best film I have seen since the first Matrix and the first Transformers in terms of wow effect.
3D has a bit to go though me thinks as it was a bit 1980's in parts and it isn't really proper 3D throughout the whole film, only certain parts.

No amount of 3d and cgi can make up for a bad plot, plenty of blockbusters have a great story...
If you can spend 12 years developing a film you could have at least spent more than 12 seconds on story and casting.
I loved it.
I totally agree that the storyline is stupid and full of cliches as is the dialogue ("you have to muzzle your dog" etc.). There's really not much more here than a bodge together of The Abyss, Aliens, Terminator II and Dances With Wolves. But I loved the first three of those films (and The Abyss had a ludicrous conclusion) and the thing was so spectacular to watch. The production values were so good and the various scenes so well staged that it more than made up for the silly story IMO. I didn't notice the time going. I'd be happy to watch it again maybe in IMAX if I get a chance.
This is the future by the way. That 3-D is going to be a gamechanger for movies and you'll probably only going to see more and movies going the route of the spectacle (as opposed to intelligent plot, acting etc) which can only be replicated in the cinema and doesn't translate so well on the tv or on the "informally acquired" formats. The "better" plots, acting drama etc. has been migrating to tv for years now
I thought it was really good, special fx were amazing, plenty of intelligent films out there if thats your bag
thought this was funny
