Anyone here on vodaphone home broadband..had a guy call today tryin to get me to sign up...it's cheaper than my current provider, but I'm more concerned about the service over saving a couple of euro...you have to sign a 12 month contract to which I don't like...some of these are bastards to get away from if the service isn't up to scratch...anyone any experience either way with them?
vodafone home phone and broadband
Vodafone home broadband sucks balls. My brother is in the process of switching over to Smart at the moment after advice from me. He got it cause it was cheap, its shit slow, supposed to be 7mb but more like 2 plus it decides to stop working whenever it feels like it and needs to be reset. I dunno if its to do with contention ration or its just pure shite in the area. Plus he had problems with billing, basically gave up on the customer support and bailed on the 12 month contract cause he gave out shit to a Team leader. She didn't care obviously so just let him out of it.
The best BB i have used is Smart, had it for years, friends have it and its never given any of us problems, never gone down etc.
I couldn't commit to a contract just in case I might get a job and have to move so I got 3 wireless pre-paid broadband. 99e for me "dongle" and 25e per month for a 10GB data allowance. Never had any problems with connection, streaming etc. Always perfect, use anywhere (cities and satellite towns at least).
Only drawback is allowance (which you can top-up whenever) but I can hold out on the major downloading til I find a job, a place and can sign up to a contract...
Just had their "service" for the last three months. Of which it's never properly worked between dns errors and poor speeds. Most of which I wouldn't mind if those issues were resolved but I'd written 7 emails and countless minutes onto their monkeys in tech support and got no resolution. I've just changed over to imagine as they've a resonable calls+bb package also the prospect of wimax is interesting, but if your exchange is unbundled for smart or magnet or ntl are in your area, go for them

yer man from vodaphone told me they bought imagine, perlico and all the "micky mouse" companies as he put it..so now there's only 2 companies in Ireland, them and eircom..haha,I said what about ntl and he said oh yea and them
I know they've brought perlico but imagine were adamant that they were owned by vf, I had to check before I signed up. Has anyone any experience of wiMAX?
Vodafone did buy Perlico & Imagine. Their broadband would of been nothing to talk about 3 months ago but what happened is BT Ireland (formerly ESAT) transferred all their consumer home phone & broadband services to Voda in a deal so when you are signing up for Voda you are signing up for all the BT fibre connects all around the country which are the strongest around.
They are ahead of Eircom now in terms of high speed broadband and they even reduced their fixed monthly home phone & broadband tariffs less than BT were offering a few months back.
