using timecodes for college DJ Competition... pros and cons

Please give a yes or no opinion along with an expansion on your view if possible.
"DIT DJ Soc are strongly considering allowing contestants in the Spinoff 2010 Dj Competition use timecodes (i.e controlling traktor or serato with timecode vinyl/cd).

Only cd/vinyl control of laptops will be allowed (ex. no auto-sync)

judged based on: Mixing Ability, Music Choice, Charisma, Tricks/Use of effects and EQs

for the sake of the conversation is also important that we have tried ... See more timecodes because otherwise it's very easy to think something works one way instead of another.
another thing about "staring at the laptop" is that i've seen many djs stare at the mixer, cdjs... etc so i don't know if that's a serious topic of discussion...

let me know what u guys think

Jesus, why are you cunts making such a big deal over this? What difference does it make if the person is using a time-coded vinyl or a real one, the mechanics are virtually identical.

His friend is posting about the exact same topic a few threads down. All the answers were given there...

I am sorry to say, but to be honest it seems pile of bollox there @ that competition

And you may feel you don't wanna see/listend the guys who are in this competitions as if people runs the competition have absolutely no clue about DJing and dance music, what can you expect from that competition winner etc??

Fuck up, Sean, this is nothing but spam which this place is positively drowning in already. He couldn't care less about what we think, it's just another way to promote what as yogy points out has already been discussed in his mate's thread on page 2.

How can a group of beginners be in an ALL IRELAND DJ competition? Where will it be held? and who is going to Judge the people on their Mixing Ability, Music Choice, Charisma, Tricks/Use of effects and EQs? I hope it would be someone professional and that has been around a long time!! and i would hope it's not someone from that DIT CLASS JUDGING SOMEONE on all these abilitys when they themselves haven't done anything only play a few gigs here and there in a few different clubs and maybe 50 house parties coz that to me is laughable :)
