What............ is.............. the.................. point ?

Recognition for the scene maaaaaaaannn.

Why not? Nobody else is bothering to get up off there holes and give a nod to what is a very healthy scene.

I think the list above represents a fair cross section of the Irish Clubbing landscape. Lots of new blood in there too.

I think you are dead right. Its too easy to be fuckin snobby and look down your nose at everything. Its a tiny scene so people should get some recognition for trying something different. Quite a broad range of styles/tastes/acts as well.

Think there's defo a point...it's a 'scene' that continues to grow both on a local and international level, the people who are driving things forward deserve to have their work recognized.

There's also people on that list who have devoted nearly all their lives to electronic music and have kept things going when times have been tough, so the least they could get is a head-nod in their direction.

Personally, I'd like to see it called The Irish Electronic Music Awards. Have always related the term 'Dance music' with a more overground 'pop dance' music sound...just my opinion...

The only recognition you should need is people on the floor dancing or people digging your music. The rest is superfluous. Some gong won't validate it anymore.

Yep, I agree. Awards like these always end up being some kind of back-slapping lick arse excercise with people bombarding you with emails looking for votes etc.

And the reason people feel they need to mail everybody to tell them about their nomination is because you need prompting about this sort of thing.

That is total horse shit about the only recognition you need being on the dance floor. Seriously??? You must be so underground the magma is burning your feet right now.

This should be a celebration of achievement and recognition for those who deserve it, thus helping to raise their profile both on the local and international scene.
