Went to Sankeys and it was amaaaaaaaaaaaazing.
Sure some of the crowd might have been a bit rough but definitely nothing much compared to Dublin. Maybe on other nights they a bit rougher but given how on the ball the security and management are I'd say you would be in good hands no matter what. The crowd and staff on Saturday night were all SUPER cool and super sound. I hadn't been impressed with Nick Curlys myspace page so didn't know what to expect but he got into a banging groove by 2 am. By 3 he was lifting the roof off and by 4 he somehow managed to get it even more banging and amazing. He handed over to someone then (Ellesse?) and they picked up where he left off.... I have never danced so much in my entire life. Normally I potter about and maybe sway a little but this was intoxicating techno and impossible to resist.
This is how cool they are. We were talking to the girl on the coat check and I mentioned I was a bit cold going out for chats in the deadly smoking area (with couches.. just lovely.. but cold). And rather than get my big old coat out she lent me HER hoodie. I swanned around in it for a while and gave it gratefully back.
The smoking area was brrrrrilliant. Deadly chats with anyone and everyone all super super cool. Met some deadly people... Joe, Luke and Ollie from Hull just so polite and and on amazing buzz like nearly everyone else. Not a hint of bad vibes.
At around 5 or 5.30 the lights came on. But not cause they were closing they wanted us to go up to the after party show upstairs in another room. It was just as banging as downstairs. Only stayed for a bit (after all we're used to leaving clubs at around 3 in Dublin) but it was just run soooooo well and with so many people on a really positive buzz. The after party runs to 7am..... Wow. They definitely know how to party.
Sankeys of Manchester is the place to be - absolutely no doubt.
