recommendations for Manchester clubbing on Saturday 13th March please

Between the mass of posts on here and the deadlinks and general randomness on the wider interwebs I'm at a loss. Can someone please recommend a good club to have a great time on Saturday next in Manchester please?

Thinking POD/GBS kinda thing with tech/electo/house and/or banging techno and FUN people.

Any pointers please?

Thanks,
J

thanks for the link - finally something that makes sense!

only thing... can't believe it shuts at 3am. Ouch what's that all about?

off that link you sent I found a place called Sankeys that's open to 6am which would be perfect for strangers in town

any thoughts on Sankeys?

also is there anything similar with early/late doors and banging....?

cheers!!!
J

Sankeys can be a bit rough...heard mixed reports

Try Deansgate Locks - there are row of bars there and if memory serves me right there's a new club across the road now that stays open late (or early!)

really appreciate the pointers folks thanks!!

when you say rough am I thinking Whiteshorse (former Dublin thing now closed - you may know it but if not think of black plastic bags on the windows and BANGING music which only opened after all the parties were winding down) at 8am on Sunday morning rough? ....and dear JAYSIS what the hell was I doing there with all those MAAAAAAAAAAD people?

or rough as in unhappy in their life and just bought a packet of headache tablets rough? not much of a benchmark there I agree but it all helps

I was in Sankey's in November and loved it. I was there by myself also, and manged to have a great night, and met lots of sound heads. Would highly recommend it biggrin

Sankeys is amazing place. Phazon soundsystem is legendary.

Just didn`t want to recommend Nick Curly. But if you want to check out one of the best clubs for clubbers....its a big place, but atmosphere is amazing.

Went to Sankeys and it was amaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

Sure some of the crowd might have been a bit rough but definitely nothing much compared to Dublin. Maybe on other nights they a bit rougher but given how on the ball the security and management are I'd say you would be in good hands no matter what. The crowd and staff on Saturday night were all SUPER cool and super sound. I hadn't been impressed with Nick Curlys myspace page so didn't know what to expect but he got into a banging groove by 2 am. By 3 he was lifting the roof off and by 4 he somehow managed to get it even more banging and amazing. He handed over to someone then (Ellesse?) and they picked up where he left off.... I have never danced so much in my entire life. Normally I potter about and maybe sway a little but this was intoxicating techno and impossible to resist.

This is how cool they are. We were talking to the girl on the coat check and I mentioned I was a bit cold going out for chats in the deadly smoking area (with couches.. just lovely.. but cold). And rather than get my big old coat out she lent me HER hoodie. I swanned around in it for a while and gave it gratefully back.

The smoking area was brrrrrilliant. Deadly chats with anyone and everyone all super super cool. Met some deadly people... Joe, Luke and Ollie from Hull just so polite and and on amazing buzz like nearly everyone else. Not a hint of bad vibes.

At around 5 or 5.30 the lights came on. But not cause they were closing they wanted us to go up to the after party show upstairs in another room. It was just as banging as downstairs. Only stayed for a bit (after all we're used to leaving clubs at around 3 in Dublin) but it was just run soooooo well and with so many people on a really positive buzz. The after party runs to 7am..... Wow. They definitely know how to party.

Sankeys of Manchester is the place to be - absolutely no doubt.

I used to be a regular in Sankeys when I was Living in manchester - Its some spot alright. Manchester is a very friendly town, it has a scummy element as do all cities but I found being Irish over there was defo a Bonus as they all claim to be Irish in some way or another!
