I wonder the same myself. He mightn't have set the world alight, but if he was responsible for the results this season, even allowing for the cup performances, he'd be strung up, yet some liverpool fans are happy to give dalglish more time. Double standards whatever way you look at it, and I accept that Dalglish is a club legend. Sentimentality shouldn't have too much of a bearing on things imo.

More gross misconceptions about our club but then, you get used to it. Hodgson wasn't berated strictly for his poor results (though obviously it was a big factor). What he was berated for was his stunningly defeatist attitude, his tactical illiteracy and unwillingness to change from a rigid, defensive 442 formation, his team selections which were geared towards containing and defending (see defeatist attitude) and his constant espousals to the media that our fans should lower expectations and not expect to beat teams like Bolton, West Brom and Everton. In light of the way this season's gone you could argue that we're being beaten by those clubs now so that point is moot but you can't ignore the fact that Hodgson's handling of such issues did him no favours. No fans of a club, especially one with a tradition of success, want to hear a manager telling them to effectively have no aspirations at all.

Re giving Dalglish more time - you know he's one of only 5 human beings on this planet to have won the English Championship 4 times or more and only two to have done this with two different clubs. Hodgson has failed in every league/international job he's ever had and has only been modestly successful keeping mediocre teams out of relegation zones. How you can say that there is double standards is beyond me, but then, I've gotten used to this level of misguided dross. Yes Dalglish's form has been beyond bad, yes we've had one of our worst runs in a long time, but to frame it that Hodgson was somehow deserving of the same chance that Dalglish is getting (sentimantality aside, though it is a factor) - based purely on achievement, is absurd. But again, as a Liverpool fan I am used to this level of misguided, misinformed, vitriolic dribble. Only, I'd expect more from you...

Getting Switzerland to the last 16 of the World Cup is a failure?
