Hodgson - England job?

Looks like its a done deal. Surprising they went against 'Arry. He's probably the only person who the public would give a bit of time to. If it all starts to go tits up, aul Woy will be slaughtered by the press & public

god i really hope this happens. i love the English FA - they're absolutely brillant. their capacity for self sabotage is just flabbergasting.

Anybody who takes that job is fucked. Basically, the english have totally unrealistic expectations and the team aren't gonna win fuck all for the foreseeable. He's on a hiding to nothing.

They couldn't give it to Harry, once it started to go belly up he would have twitched his face off. During a live game, probably.

Think it was a brilliant appointment myself: Harry is their long term darling, but why shaft him with a set-in-place-but-going-nowhere team for the Euro’s with little preparation. Can only lead to heartache. So set up a patsy that Harry can take over from and turnaround. But whatever the intentions for an 'interim' manager, we know what the public/media wants, so they NEED to be English, and they shouldn’t cost too much should it all fail. Step in Roy. Out of contract with a good performance record in the last few years, apart from Liverpool (though I personally count that as success ). Ticks all boxes… AND, if he were to pull something out of the hat… well they wanted Roy all along, masterstroke!

Martin Samuel's piece in the Daily Mail yesterday was hilarious. Sums up why the England national team never has any hope of success with pricks like him crying like a little girl when their friend Harry didn't get the top job. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2137123/Roy-Hodgson--Is-England-job-Mr-Average.html

Also love the way they drag out Hodgson's record there...failing to note he has a higher career win percentage than Redknapp, along with five league titles and international experience. Neither of which Redknapp has. Regardless of Hodgson's suitability for the role (I personally think he's not a bad choice considering the dearth of options) he hasn't a hope in hell of success when 75% of Fleet Street have already decided he's gonna fail and they'll be doing all they can to make sure it happens.

your right in lots of ways paddy. Woy is doomed in this job, the same way he was at liverpool , he's never gonna win this one . with the players, with the public, with the press . but then again, thats the England job in a nutshell anyway

i hope he does well - he's a good head is roy. bobby robson got dogs abuse too & he got em to a semi-final. the fa don't want to pay the 8million for 'arry or whatever comp levy would have wrangled out of them.

fantastic
