Paddy's Revenge
For those of you with your fingers well and truly on the pulse this may be old news, but last night was the first time this little ditty was brought to my attention, Steve Mac's brand new tune 'Paddy's Revenge' aka Riverdance on crack!
For those of you with your fingers well and truly on the pulse this may be old news, but last night was the first time this little ditty was brought to my attention, Steve Mac's brand new tune 'Paddy's Revenge' aka Riverdance on crack!
The legendary producer and DJ has teamed up with another Steve (BigFish, Little Fish's Steve B) to produce this year's supposed song of the summer. Last year we had Samim's barely tolerable 'Heater'. Like most big summer tunes it was OK the first few times you heard it, then the cheesy accordion sample became like nails on a chalkboard.
With Paddy's Revenge however, the accordion has been replaced with none other than an Irish Jig looped over a bog standard electro track.
Although it's not being released until 15th September, Paddy's Revenge is already receiving massive support across the UK music scene hitting No.1 on Cool Cuts, DJ Download and Buzz's charts and is already on BBC Radio 1's Upfront Playlist being backed by the likes of Annie Mac, Kissy Sellout and Pete Tong (who has dubbed this his essential tune) as well as more commercial heads like Vernon Kay.
Much like 'Heater', 'Paddy's Revenge' has been a massive success in some of the classiest clubs at holiday destinations from Magaluf to Santa Ponsa (so you know we're dealing with quality here!)
Check out the official video below, guaranteed to make you cringe.
