Worldscape Laptop Orchestra
The Worldscape Laptop Orchestra is an ensemble of 50 performers, each working with a laptop as their instrument and using custom built wireless software to communicate and play music together. Supported by Apple Computer , the 50 strong orchestra performed two 3 hour concerts at the University of York in the UK last November. The 'checking your emails' look is common complaint about using laptops in creating a musical performance so what exactly 50 people re-creating Mozart's 7th symphony would look like is anyone's guess. What is certain however is that laptop use across a spectrum of musical shows is only set to increase in the coming years as the software and technology comes on board to support it . more info on this interesting concept is available here : http://netcells.net/creative/index.php?g=1203880528 Also check out these guys based in Tokyo... http://www.laptoporchestra.net
