The owner and manager of Plymouth nightclub The Dance Academy are to be sentenced after being found guilty of allowing the sale of ecstasy in the club.
The owner of the club, Manoucehr Bahmanzadeh and the general manager were each found guilty of one count of allowing the sale of the drug in the club.
A former head doorman of the club Gareth Grimes told the court how on one occasion he was asked to allow two men entry into the club after he found them in possession of pills. The normal policy at the club was simply to eject anyone caught with three pills or less, after confiscating the drugs, but Grimes said on this occasion manager Thomas Costelloe asked him to let the man stay.
The senior investigating officer, Det Insp Huggett had this to say, “The evidence of the officers confirmed that the sale and consumption of ecstasy, a Class A drug, was rampant, dealing was overt and blatant”.

Was at this club once about 3 years ago. It was fluffy boots, fluffy bra central- all the lads no shirts and wearing white gloves throwing some mad shapes. Almost every single person dressed up in rave gear. It reminded me of the rave in Human Traffic accept it was ten years later and it seemed as though these folk in Plymouth only just came across dance music. It was an expierence to say the least.
