Dot Rotten

Not so sure how many people on this site get down with grime. Chances are unless you’re living in Bow E3 you’re not. But every so often, in spite of how polarising a genre is, an artist can emerge who manages to rope in would-be haters, or maybe just creates some more. Interested or not, Wiley is not the only man making grime, this kid Young Dot is making it too. Last year his mixtape, This Is The Beginning made it into Pitchfork’s end of year top four.

Pitchfork don’t go in for much beyond guitar rock so that was something. But Sophie Ellis Bextor and Groove Armada also featured in their top 100, so remember, Pitchfork can be drunk at the wheel sometimes too. After the acclaim Young Dot killed himself – that is musically. He came back as Dot Rotten and has a new mixtape out next week called RIP Young Dot. You can download it for nothing by clicking here

Here’s a clip of him freestyling in what looks like his bedroom. Check out the ‘Gone But Not Forgotten’ mural in the background that looks like it was painted by a ten-year-old with no hands. Gangsta!
