Glastonbury Ablaze
Glastonbury revellers were met with a strange sight as they set up camp on Somerset fields yesterday, a massive black cloud in the sky. This time however, it was not a rain cloud looming over the festival but a thick blume of smoke that was the result of a fire in a scrap yard from the nearby village of Pylle.
[Glastonbury] (http://www.bodytonicmusic.com/news/2008/apr/04/glastonbury-goes-digital/) revellers were met with a strange sight as they set up camp on Somerset fields yesterday in the form of a massive black cloud in the sky. This time however, it was not a rain cloud looming over the festival but a thick blume of smoke that was the result of a fire in a scrap yard from the nearby village of Pylle.
Luckily the wind was in favour of the 175,000 campers meaning no evacuation of the site was needed but the blaze resulted in the closure of the A37, a direct road to the festival, which caused traffic delays for hours.
By the evening though most of the site was occupied and the smoke from the fire had been replaced by smoke from peoples spliffs.
The festival which kicks off today sees a host of artists take to dozens of stages till Sunday, with Jay Z, The Cribs and Fatboy Slim amongst the performers.

Its a great festival. I've been twice and it turned into a mudfest on both occassions but well worth it.
The scale of it is what I love. 175000 people. It like moving to a big town where reality has been called off for a couple of days. It goes from there..
