Diddy You're A Star
Yesterday 02 May was officially declared “Sean Combs” day in Hollywood as Diddy became the first ever rapper to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A more than chuffed Diddy arrived with his family to the award ceremony in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon which drew the largest crowd in the history of the ultra prestigious event. Combs beamed to the hoards of screaming fans sporting Sean Jean tees, Diddy posters & chanting “Bad Boy”; "Today is one of the best days of my life. Today is proof that if you believe, all your dreams can come true. I've gone from Harlem to Hollywood." Diddy’s hometown of Harlem also received strong representation with heavy weights like Russell Simmons, Doug E Fresh, Jamie Foxx, Bishop Don Magic Juan & more out to support him, “We wanted to make sure that he got that full support of Harlem. He started coming up in the streets performing and partying [and] now look - a star on The Walk of Fame” told a gleaming Doug E Fresh to reporters. So having gone from Harlem to Hollywood and from Sean “Puffy Combs” to Puff Daddy to P Diddy to Diddy, the loved & loathed rapper goes down in entertainment history joining some of his heroes like Sidney Potier, Denzel Washington, Quincy Jones & Frank Sinatra on Hollywood Boulevard. Certainly a new plateau for hip-hop almost 30 years on since it began in uptown New York as a simple form of deprived ghetto youth expression & identity, something its predecessors could never have imagined, and no doubt a date that will be maligned by the scene’s purists & truly celebrated by the fat cats for years to come.
