Erol Alkan: The UK's favourite DJ

Datatransmission have conducted a survey which puts Erol Alkan top of a list of favourite DJs amongst UK readers.

Okay, we're a little late on this one, but if you'd seen how good our Halloween outifits were you'd forgive us. Last week Datatransmission, an English dance music website, voted Erol Alkan the nation's favourite DJ from a list of 40 international DJs.

Here's the top ten.

  1. Erol Alkan
  2. John Digweed
  3. Sasha
  4. Danny Howells
  5. Above & Beyond
  6. Riley & Durrant
  7. Armin Van Buuren
  8. Carl Cox
  9. James Zabiela
  10. Paul Van Dyk

When asked what he thought, Erol said it was "nice". And then he said a few more things and the interview is actually pretty interesting.

Yeah I'd agree with Trev, back when I first saw him DJ it was superb, 2ManyDJs type stuff with a bit of musical brains and great mixing.

I know your supposed to grow out of Erol esque music when you hit your mid twenties but fuck it- tis all a bit fun!

He is only stadium at Stadium type events.
If you ever went to Trash and his more recent visits to Durr you would know he is anything but,
He has a vast musical knowledge and can pull out the most obscure stuff down there,
Beyond the wizaeds sleeve stuff is great too.
and his production work for Late of the Pier is ace too.

I'll be honest, I'm not huge fan of a lot of the music he plays, but I'm with Chewy on that Beyond the wizards sleeve stuff, its wicked!

One of the most "fun" DJ's I have ever seen, really feeds off the crowd. His gig a few years back in 110th street in Galway will go down as one of the best I've ever been to. He is a great bloke too, very gracious.
