End of the End

The End nightclub in London will close on January 24th 2008 after 13 years of business.

The End nightclub in London will close on January 24th 2008 after 13 years of business. The London club was a pioneer in its field and set the standard for hundreds of clubs worldwide.

Speaking on [The End’s website] (http://www.endclub.com), the brother and sister team behind the venue, Layo and Zoe Paskin had this to say, “It’s partially a circumstantial decision, and partially a decision of choice. I (Layo) started working on The End nearly two years before it opened - we’re approaching our 13th birthday, so nearly fifteen years.

There are other members of staff who have been here for ten or eleven years, and we’ve got to the point where some of the key people are ready to move on. The End won’t feel the same if we aren’t doing it together. This has never been solely a business, it’s a labour of love, and a great part of the charm is the team, and running it with that team.”

The site will be sold for development and the club will no longer exist. Layo cited that the reason for the clubs closure was not purely financial and finished claiming, “There is nothing to say but thank you. I hope you will remember some of your time spent here, and that your memories give you as much pleasure as mine do for me.”

The End begins its run of closing parties with Sven Vath headlining on 13th of December and its closure will certainly result in a huge gap on the London scene.

Sad news for sure. Spent many a night in that club, it'll be sorely missed.

London clubland will have no middle ground anymore. It'll be Fabric or nothing pretty soon I think.
