An illegal rave in Sydney’s Inner West was shut down by police on early Sunday morning causing a near riot in the surrounding area. 1,500 people had crammed into the warehouse party which spanned over three rooms on Parramatta Road.

Complaints from nearby residents prompted the arrival of riot police and the dog squad who swiftly shut down the party at 1 AM resulting in the rave spilling out onto the street.

Parramatta Road was shut for nearly two hours while police tried to subdue the situation. People on the top floor of the party showered police with bottles and police are now on the hunt to find the culprits.
