5 Drink Limit at Music Festival

New music festival “All Points West” took place recently in New York City with acts Underworld, The Roots and Chromeo all taking to the stage. In the first of its kind, festival organisers did everything they could to deter people from spending money at the bar by issuing a five drink limit per person.
Upon entrance, punters received a wristband with 5 removable tabs which were ripped off by the barman every time they got a drink. Once all 5 were removed, that was the end of your drinking day.
The idea was to have a festival that was just about the music and less about getting completely wasted.
It seems this sort of diverse idea could really only be implemented in certain cities where trendy urbanites frown upon swarms of revellers falling about the place off their heads on whatever they can get their hands on. However for the majority of the festival going public, alcohol and live music go hand in hand and a limit on booze would certainly result in a backlash.
It is unclear as to whether or not this trend of drink restraint from promoters will spread, but “All Points West” was hugely successful with little complaints regarding the lack of alcohol.

Nannyism is may be, but there really is the essence of a good idea here. I love to drink the same as
many other people in this country, but the fact is-Ireland has a HUGE drink problem. Some positive moves
to combat it can only do good.....there would probably be riots though!!
