Arguably one of the top breakout bands of 2008 MGMT have been approached by electronica duo The Chemical Brothers to collaborate. The Chems who were hugely impressed by the New York bands debut album Oracular Spectacular have admitted to swapping ideas back and forth between the two camps.

Speaking to NME, MGMTs Ben Goldwasser claimed, “We’ll experiment with them to create a different sound. It won’t be dance music, they’ve collaborated with people like Noel Gallagher before and they have this psychedelic side to them, so we’ll find a common ground.”

Fans of MGMT can also look forward to a new double album which will showcase the bands love for pop songs on one CD and psychedelic songs on the other.

No date has been revealed for the pairing between The Chemics and MGMT; stay tuned to Bodytonic for more updates.
