Cream Turns 16

One of the world's few true super club brands ‘Cream’ celebrates their 16th birthday in style next month at their Liverpool home, Nation.

Traditionally, Cream's birthdays are one of the highlights of the UK house clubbing calendar and this coming of age bash on October 11th is no exception.

Headlining on the night is Cream regular, trance pioneer Paul van Dyk, who recently rocked the arse off 10,000 clubbers at Creamfields.

Joining him will be Adam Sheridan and in the courtyard knocking out the four to the floor beats will be Sebastian Leger and Ingrosso.

Holding down the Annexe room will be Dave Spoon, Chris Lake and Andy Mac. It's in this very room that it all began back in 1992.

The last 16 years has not been all plain sailing for the club. The rise in popularity of more credible electro and techno music seems to have hindered the club's progression with people getting bored of the super club template in the late nineties.

In 2004 the brand set up a bar in Liverpool called Babycream quickly followed by another in Leeds. This was intended to be the start of a UK-wide chain with bars due to open in Manchester, Glasgow and Swansea but the Leeds bar closed down soon after opening and the other branches of Babycream never opened their doors.

Although the music policy of Cream may not be the most cutting edge or underground for some of the readers of this site, hats off to Cream founder James Barton who has turned the cream name into a worldwide super brand.
