What you call it? 2-Step, Garage, Pop? Eski boy and Grime pioneer Wiley has been speaking about his new album recently ahead of its October release and it seems he's leaving the streets of Bow E3 behind for some pop fame.
Hot on the heels of Dizzee Rascal, Wiley has called on the likes of Lily Allen to help him rack up the hits. "I always wanted to work with Lily since I heard ‘Alright, Still’, "It was weird 'cos when I listened to it I used to sit there giggling thinking this girl's cool. But then I realised she wasn't just cool, she'd sold a million records. I respected her even more after that. The track we've done is a scorcher."
Some other artist's lending a helping hand include Mark Ronson, Hot Chip and The Prodigy
Never one to mince his words, Wiley made it quite clear what his intentions are for his forthcoming album entitled "I See Clear"
"This is the way I want to go," the 29-year-old MC added. "I want to push boundaries but I want to stay in the charts by making tunes that connect with people. It's pop all the way from here."
First single off the album is "Summertime" which is already brightening things up over on 1xtra and Kiss in the UK. Produced by Mark Ronson and featuring Pharrell's new golden boy Kenna, its set to be as big as Wiley's last hit "Wearing My Rolex" (whether or not it sparks another dance craze remains to be seen).
Paying homage to Yo! MTV Raps and throwing in a bit of MIA's style it's a fun video and the song itself is sure to be the cause a bit of debate with its sample from Daft Punk's "Aerodynamic".
I'm guessing it's going to be a case of love it or hate it just as Kanye West's "Stronger" was last year.

Wiley goes poop more like! though you have to take every word out of his mouth with the utmost grain of salt! he's so bleedin prolific still - grime classic for every terrible pop tune!
