Google Launches New G1 Phone

It could be the biggest pop culture battle since Blur Vs Oasis with Google about to take on Apples iPhone with their new G1 mobile. It’s the clash of the mobile phone titans.

Launched yesterday, the phone which is slightly bigger than its Apple counterpart, has got technology blogs on meltdown with armies of cyber geeks trying to find out all of the features it possesses.

These features include, a full touch screen, a pull out QWERTY keyboard, a 3 million mega pixel camera, 3G, GPS and push gmail.

One of the best features this little gem has to offer is the advanced Google Maps software the phone has to offer. Taking advantage of the accelerometer and GPS functionality, the user can navigate Google’s street map views for their exact location simply by moving the phone. Point the phone at a building, and the phone will display an image of that building, with additional useful information superimposed over the top.

The phones software also allows people to develop applications for it without them being approved by Google. The applications used on the iPhone are all approved by Apple meaning thousands fall by the wayside.

At present the G1 is only available by T-Mobile in the US but is due to hit the UK in November.
