Minimal Nation Once Again
Reissue of Rob Hood classic.
'Minimal Nation' - Robert Hood's seminal 1994 double album - is getting the full re-release treatment on June 15 on his M Plant label. The CD/digital release will couple the eight originals with two new tracks; the unreleased ‘SH-101’ (made during the same sessions) and the very rare ‘Self-Powered’ (which only appeared on the Axis test pressing).
Speaking about his mindset in the approach to recording the album, soon after leaving Underground Resistance, Hood recalled: "Around 1992, I was fooling around with the Juno 2 keyboard and I came across this chord sound; once I had that chord sound and a particular pattern I realised I didn’t need anything else. In order to maximise the feeling of the music, sometimes we have to subtract.”
He adds: “Minimal Nation is not just a collection of rhythm tracks, but a supernatural work of art realised. I felt a strong sense of urgency to create a body of work that identified with what was placed on my heart, as opposed to what was on my mind. Regardless of its diminutive nature, one should never underestimate the neural potency of minimalism.”
In addition, the release will be accompanied by a greatest hits cd of sorts: a 'Minimal Nation' mix CD featuring tracks from the album, plus selections from 'Nighttime World Vol 2', 'Movable Parts Vol 2', 'Internal Empire' and the recent 'Hood Music Vol 3'.

"Regardless, of it's diminutive nature, one should never underestimate the neural potency of minimalism"
In that spirt, lose the two commas from that sentence...

seminal work, but no wax? :(
I'd just presumed it would be getting a wax release too, but now I re-read it...bollocks anyways.
"In that spirt, lose the two commas from that sentence..."
and the rogue apostrophe...
Btw - what's William Gallas doing on the cover?
best headline of the year so far too
His myspace says it is coming out on vinyl. Roll on June (again)
I spose i'll get the obligatory "FrankMcG is a racist" post out of the way. Sure all dem fellas look de same don't dey. :P
Wasn't very impressed with his set in Kennedys on Fri. Warm-up guys were far better imo. His performance was miles away from his EP performance which was the reason i decided to go. win some lose some i guess.
Not only does he look like William Gallas, but also Sydney Poitier, Nelson Mandela, Mohammed Ali, and Ray Shah.
Ray Shah..........:)
So, what, we're not allowed say when a black guy looks like someone else? I guess I'm not allowed say Jolean Lescott looks like Worf, Kieran Richardson looks like the little fella from Heroes, John Obi Mikel looks like Tracy Chapman or Rio Ferdinand looks like Derek Griffiths (one for the old school headz)
He does look like William Gallas in that pic. Doesn't look like any of the other guys mind
eh, we weren't being serious.
I love "Minimal Nation", great record.
I enjoyed Rob Hood on Friday. It wasn't his best set by any means, in fact it was a bit disjointed and didn't seem to flow very well. But I really enjoyed the music, particularly "Acid Trax", as famous a record as it is I'd never heard it in a club before. While his set wasn't brilliant, there was a great atmosphere in Kennedys, I'd a great night. His Bodytonic podcast is a masterpiece of techno DJing IMO, it's got so much depth, I love it.
jaysus go easy on Worf there Frank will ya, he's not that ugly.
Haha, I just googled 'Jolean Lescott' on Google Image search and the second result was Worf!
Don't Forget Ashley 'Marlo' Young.
