Former DMC champ and current DJ for Kanye West A-Trak has compiled the latest installment in the Fabric Live series. The tracklisting from the 26-year-old (he was world champion at 15) reflects current trends, being decidedly un-hip-hop, featuring instead a raft of electro-house numbers and Baltimore-esque beats, plus the occasional house classic (DJ Sneak's 'You Can't Hide From Your Bud') and Detroit gem ('Tobacco Ties' on Red Planet), before closing with Zinc's bassline monster '138 Trek'.

Of the selection, the Canadian said: “I mixed in some old, classic house records with some newer funk-loop house records that reference the old house records, mixed with some kooky weird Baltimore-ish club edits, mixed with some techno stuff, some slow disco and my own productions. If you see it on paper it looks like a whole mish-mash but the way I put together the mix, it somehow comes together and makes sense.

“Hip hop is one thing that gives me my credibility, but I’m into all this other dancey electronic stuff. I’m able to have a foot in different scenes and bring a lot of the music together and bridge gaps.”
