Clone Closes
Influential label winds down.
Specialist electro/techno label Clone has announced it is to close. In an in-depth e-mail circulated this week, the Rotterdam-based stamp outlined some of the reasons for the decision, saying, "What is there left to do? Basically there is no challenge at this moment... we can continue releasing everything we like (from people we like) without a marketing strategy and without a potential buyers in mind as we used to do... but we already did so for many years.
"It's a difficult decision because the label is doing very well and we get warm reactions from the strangest places in this world and we could do this for another 10 years! But in order to remain passioned about what we do, we feel we should not continue the label as it is... so we won't."
There are two more releases planned, from I-F and Marco Bernardi. However, the author hinted at a potential new direction, promising: "There will be new things coming, but its just not exactly clear what, how (and when). More news on that in a few weeks time!" In addition, accroding to the author, re-issue specialists Clone Classic Cuts label will "most likely" continue.

Jaysus I hope the feckin shop is still operating, I ordered a load of records from them on tuesday, loads of stuff I was after as well!!

Yeah the shop and distribution is still going.
Tis a real pity the label has stopped. Such an inspirational label. Im sure they will be back with something even better, similar to what I-f done with the CBS & Intergalactic FM.
