Bodytonic Podcast 007 : Robert Hood
Robert Hood
The first techno mix in the Bodytonic Podcast series comes from Detroit legend Robert Hood.
Currently enjoying something of a renaissance having just released a corker of a mix for Fabric, this mix features Hood under his Grey Area guise - an alias he uses to showcase his own productions and remixes and his labels catalogue from M-Plant, Duet, Drama, Hardwax.
This mix was recorded recently at the legendary FUSE club in Belgium. Thanks to Oliver at EPM for making this happen...and enjoy!

lookin forward to this! Nice one boys!!
How on earth did you get hold of this masterpiece??
I have been a Detroit techno fan for nearly 15 years and this is quite simply the most sublime collection of real deep techno I have ever heard. Seriously!
The guy himself has never put put out anything remotely comparable even on his own label. He did one for Logistic, France a couple years ago but this is better. Much better. It has virtually all of his great classics and if you bear in mind he practically invented deep minimal Detroit techno thats over 30% of the greatest techno.
Ever!
Jeff Mills might be better known. Richie Hawtin, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson are the closest competitors but Rob Hood is the purists techno artist. When Fat Boy Slim held a party @ the gallery London this is the guy he choose to DJ.
The guy has been at least 20 years in the business and somehow you have managed to get your hands on his best, most commercial work - and given it away..
A coup of epic proportions. Well done.
His awakenings mix from detriot weekend last september is awesome too.
This is an awesome mix, similar enough to his DEMF set a couple of years back, but I think this one is much better. It's a pity he hasn't been over to Ireland more often, I missed his EC set last year. This is techno at its very best, amazing stuff, and thanks for the podcast!
3rd or 4th track is basement trax vol 1 - bang the box. an old hawtin favourite.
