Bodytonic Podcast 013 : Ben Westbeech
Ben Westbeech
Ben Westbeech is a DJ, singer and producer originating from Bristol, living in London, UK. Trained as cellist and vocalist, his influences include House, Rock n Roll, punk, jazz and hip hop. Ben first gave a CD containing his first single "So Good Today" to a friend in London, 2 months later she played it to Gilles Peterson who snapped it up. This led to Ben being signed to Gilles Peterson's superb label Brownswood Recordings. His debut album Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life was released in March 2007.
Ben brings us a very different podcast from our recent ones, a pumping mix featuring lots of in your face electro, dubstep and breaks. We also got the chance to ask him a few brief questions:
The biggest Influence in my Life..... is my experiences.
The internet..... is an amazing source of knowledge if used correctly.
If I could turn back time..... I'd go back to the start of punk.
My first gig....was nerve racking.
The funniest thing I ever heard ...."I've learned from my mistakes and I'm sure I can repeat them exactly." Peter Cook
Food and music..... are my two favourite things in the world.
The best food in the world.... has to be Sushi. Seared fatty tuna to be exact.
One place you should definitely visit.... Tokyo. It is the most amazing city and the sushi's not bad either.
The happiest moment.... playing to an amazing crowd at last years Big Chill. It was the highlight of all the live shows.
The best advice I ever got..... One day at a time.
