Bodytonic Podcast 014 : Mr Scruff

Mr Scruff

Our podcast this week is courtesy of Bodytonic favourite DJ, Producer, Cartoonist and Tea Drinker, Mr Scruff! There isn't much chance you haven't heard of him yet, but just in case, here's a brief introduction by the man himself...

"As a DJ, I play across the board, including Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Latin, African, Ska, Disco, House, Funk, Breaks, Soundtracks & loads more. As a producer I make music that draws on these influences, with a large dose of cheek & good humour. My cartoon drawings illustrate my website, my gig flyers & record/cd covers. I also have a tea company (more info)"

As we said, we love Mr Scruff here, so we're really excited about having him mix a podcast for us. We hope you enjoy it, and the brief interview we had with him below!

The biggest Influence in my Life... Life! Everything..music, people, my wife Andrea, my family, friends, the weather, biscuits...

The internet...can be very useful and a huge waste of time.

If I could turn back time...I would be a 6 year old buying records with my dinner money!

My first gig...was at Stockport SU in 1990.

The funniest thing I ever heard...we had a cat when I was younger, and while very distressed on the way to the vets, it said 'bitmap'.

Food and music... the only time that food and music should not be in the same sentence is when you talk about 'dinner jazz'.

The best food in the world...There is too much good food. I am very partial to Japanese food, but then there is Italian too...

One place you should definitely visit...New Zealand.

Happiest moment...getting married.

The best advice I ever got..."Andrew, here is how to make a cup of tea.."

What's going to be big this summer....The sun (hopefully) and smooth jazz trance (hopefully not)

Dont forget to check out his latest release on Ninja Tune "Donkey Ride", here's the mini video for the single.
