Maschine - "Maschine" [Psychonavigation]

Psychonavigation do it again.

After the success of Psychonavigation's last few album releases comes yet another. Ten tracks of cut-up melodic, hip-hop breaks, jazz and classical instrumentation sounding not unlike Boards of Canada, Plaid, Squarepusher and early Autechre jamming together. This is an ambitious album that has me thinking it’s a modern interpretation of a fictional mid-90’s Warp records release updated for 2011. Without getting too deep into explaining what I think each track sounds like, I would just highly recommend this to any electronica fan. You will not be disappointed.

The press release reads like this: "Psychonavigation Records kicks off 2011 with the self titled debut album from 'Maschine'. All tracks were produced & composed between 1997 - 2006. Maschine are (were) Eoin Coughlan & Aza Hand. The Bray, Co.Wicklow duo formed in 1997 and up to last year they both have been quietly rocking the underground electronic scene through their unique live performances. Recently Hand has left the band to concentrate on a sound engineering career leaving Coughlan to continue on the project. Coughlan comes from a musical background (his mother is the accomplished Irish jazz & blues singer Mary Coughlan) and throughout the album you can hear how he has absorbed the sounds of early Jazz and Classical music which he mixes over complex beats."

Release date is 28th of March and you can listen to samples from the album by clicking the "link" or checking out the soundcloud urls below
