IF's Murder Capital wakes from an eight-year slumber with a red-hot four-tracker from the mysterious Gesloten Cirkel. 'Swedish Lady' dives straight in: it's centered around a repeated murky chord motif which combines perfectly with sparing freestyle synths, but the pay-off is in the drum programming: a selection of harsh hats drop in and out of the mix, reminiscent of Carl Craig in his mid-90s glory days. 'When It's Late' is a chugging, raw acid jam with added atonal adventures: suitably unhinged, but not half as out there as 'Twisted Ballon', which works a distorted acid (or is it actually a balloon sample?) over rough, spare drums. The closing title track is similar to the opener: dramatic disco-y string samples and stabs plus those booming, breaking drums means this is Detroit (ware)house music. With added rooster samples. An EP that's actually an EP.
