Gold Panda - Quitter's Raga [Makemine]

Related Content

Gold Panda's 4/4-leaning 12" on Various Productions might have warmed the hearts of Nathan Fake fans, but this limited 7" on makemine hints a far greater things to come. 'Quitter's Raga' is a half-step/hip-hop that explores the world of cut-up, processed loops, but does so with heart, warmth and melody. The loose claps take the edge off the propulsive bass and IDM-glitches, but it's chopped/stretched sitar/strings/vocal that set this short (too short) beauty alight. The melancholic pop of 'Fifth Ave' is on a losing ticket from the outset, by virtue of what went before if, even if the plucked, Lacklustre-esque melody and creeping hiss merits an a-side all of its own.
