The immersive, half-stepping A-side 'Speak' keeps Scuba in front of the expanding dubstep-meets-techno pack for one simple reason: bigness. Everything - the stabs, the washes, the clonking snare, the careful details - sounds immense. It's not breaking any new ground, but it proves that the process of refinement delivers. But it's still second best. 'Negative', on the b-side, is outstanding: the twitching tech hats, pointlessly perfect female vocal, Bukem-y pads and phasing FX set the stall, before a break combining chiming bells and keys that drip like rain carry this into the heavens.
