Anonymous DJ tool gear from Bristol's Rooted Records - the A-side is a tricky, tech-y stepper fuelled by a propulsive bassline and ping-pong-ing reverbed percussion that nods toward Shackleton-esque depths, but with a cleaner focus. The arrival of the swirling, Rob Hood-referencing riff ups the pressure, building to a hypnotic climax. The flip flips the script, re-wiring the funky template with a technoid tint: the chopped stab and hammering woodpecker percussion define this addictive, abrasive rhythm. 500 run, vinyl-only apparently.
