It's fitting that Manchester, the world's first industrialised city, should have its best club hidden in the belly of Beehive Mill, an old cotton factory that's around 200 years old.

Bugged Out and The Tribal Sessions have been involved with the club since 2000 and recently they expanded adding a second club on the top. It's called Spektrum and guests include Theo Parrish, Joris Voorn, Mathias Tanzmann, Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts
Sankeys was re-opened in 2000 after closing down in 1998 in the wake of a plague of gang problems in the Manchester club scene. There were stories of gangsters flashing their pistols at security to get in for free, the bouncers were stabbed at the Hacienda and there was even one club where water leaked from the ceiling whever it rained due to the many bullet holes in it.
But much has changed since the gunchester days. Manchester has calmed down and the city has a safe nightlife virtually unrivaled in the U.K.
Talent: depending on which night you attend, the club has a mixed crowd of beautiful hedonistic party girls, students and Madchester mentalists. Good times.
Toilets: well maintained and unisex.
Sounds: Expect quality. DJs like Martin Butrich, Luciano, Ivan Smagghe, Ellen Allien or Omar S often grace the decks, along with the more than capable residents. Some of the best nights are when local outfits like Naive Melody or Sequence take over, bringing an open minded and music savvy crowd with them.
Goodies: The main room has a unique LED cage lighting system and Spektrum has a Watergate-styled rig that runs in time with the music. The sounds are provided by Phazon and Funktion 1 and if that doesn't hold your attention there's an outdoor cinema screening cult movies.
