When and why did the label start?
1999.
Who or what was your biggest influence?
A combination of early Detroit techno/Chicago and NY house/early German minimal house/techno.
Best career move?
Cynosure action figures.
Biggest hit?
Monoblock's 'Untone'.
Biggest miss?
Bleak existence.
If you could sign one artist, who would it be?
Ron Hardy.
Does vinyl still matter?
Do you still need air to breath? Vinyl matters a lot to me and to what the label represents... whether or not it's effecting things in the digital market anymore is the question. As long as the label is alive we'll keep pressing vinyl.
What is the secret to success?
Clever merchandise, always sign artists with great dance moves and slick style, sign artists that are sexy, charismatic and make sure that those things always comes before talent. Never take yourself too seriously...
Top tip?
Good sex.
Do you dance?
I used to be in a dance crew till I was 14... lost a few of the tricks, but dancing was my gateway to loving dance music of course...
What is next for the label?
A limited edition double 10" release of mine called 'Under The Radar" featuring remixes from Deadbeat, Rozzo, Massi DL, Justin Long, Mazi and Ricardo Villalobos that celebrates Cynosure's 10.2 years of being invisible.
