Established 6 years ago, house music pioneers Just Jack have been instrumental in the rise and rise of the flourishing Bristol electronic music scene. Based on the simple premise of throwing creative, evolving and off the wall parties, Just Jack maintain a dedication to their event production with incredible visuals, bespoke décor, mind blowing performance artists and first and foremost, quality music. Just Jack are Robin Shaw, Dan Wild, Tom Rio, Rag and Jethro Binns. This Summer they'll be hosting a stage at Love Saves The Day in June, their own boat party at Hideout Festival Croatia, a stage at Farr Festival and the Secret Garden party, and in the run up to these we found out what a week in a life is like with Just Jack . . .
Monday
Monday is a killer, we had a very big weekend and think the worlds against us…..after a cheeky smoothie and a look back at the photos from Saturday things seem a little brighter! Started work on the flyer for our 'Just Jack house party' which is similar to a Wilde Renate kind of setup.
Tuesday
Tuesday is 'lets get down to business' day! Nice and early 10am meeting about Love Saves The Day festival and how to make our stage look like a crazy circus, followed by another meeting to discuss Eat Everything's brand guidelines. Later that night we hit up another killer meeting to arrange all things Just Jack, Tom Rio has sacked us off to hit the studio (secretly we're pleased as his jokes are wack). Here we ponder the meaning of house music and how we can weird people out at our nights…….also Dan ate some sausages.
Wednesday
Wednesday it rained but we don't give a shit because we have matching rain macs. Later that day we confirmed a few more acts for a vs we're doing in London over the summer and a Lola-ed / Appolonia party later in the year.
Thursday
Rio called us up to explain how he had accidentally killed a mouse with his bare hands while sat on the lavatory…..he sounded pretty traumatised so we all go to his house and spent the day trying to find the family to apologise.
Friday
With our show coming up on Saturday and a big crew of acts coming, most of the day is spend panicking about all the stuff we haven't done! The last minute flights are booked, press is arranged and foliage is brought. We then get a call mid morning to say that there's been a licensing issue and we can't open the second warehouse!! We have long chats with everyone involved and try to figure a way to sort out the mess, much to our distress we have to cut the lion tamer and kickboxing otters.
Saturday
Today is going to be a long day…..meeting at motion 11am to rearrange our production plans. Bear Moves come down with the rigger to prepare for the traipse artist's above the crowd. Lumex setup the badass Just Jack sign and projectors for our visuals, while Tom Paine of Team Love help us string the all important not so secret ingredient of Just Jack…….Bunting! In the words of Tom Rio "bunting make a bland thing fun-ting"
Sunday
We wake up at 2pm realise we've missed our friends birthday at Lazer Quest, however, the thought of running around a dark room after cracking on for the past 10hrs is not so appealing. Our party at Motion was wicked and everyones still buzzing from the last track (the artist formerly known as Prince, and now also currently known as Prince, but known for a short time as a squiggle... I Wanna Be Your Lover, the Dimitri from Paris Edit). The rest of the day is spent trying to remember what we did with the door money at the end of the night and how our crew ended up drinking tea and wearing dressing gowns with Subb-an and Jess!….
